Boise is the county seat and capital of Idaho. With a 2010 US Census report of 205,671 estimated residents, Boise is the most populous city in Idaho, and the 4th largest in the Pacific Northwest. The crime rate in Boise is relatively the same as most major cities of the same size. Neighborhoods like Mountainview, Chinden Boulevard, Vernon, and Barber have much lower crime rates than the metropolitan area.
Horseshoe Bend is a small community off Route 55 in Boise. Horseshoe Bend is bounded by Pioneer Road to the west and Route 55 to the northeast. The quaint and quiet community of Horseshoe Bend is primarily residential. There are houses for rent or lease on the south side, and apartment complexes on the north side. Horseshoe Bend has several waterways running through the community. Old Emmitt Road and Old Canal Road border the waterways to the east.
The Boise Bench, located south of downtown, is bounded on the west by Crescent Rim Drive, on the east by South Latah Street, and on the south by Rose Hill Street. Alpine Street provides a loose boundary to the north of Boise Bench. The infamous Boise Depot is located within the borders of Boise Bench. The Bench is primarily a residential community. Near the center of the Boise Bench are a number of houses for rent or lease in the community. Because of the Bench's proximity to downtown, public transportation is easily accessible.
Downtown is the hub of commerce, business, cultural, and entertainment in the Boise community. There are a number of trendy shops, chic stores, fine dining establishments, bars and nightclubs in the community. Downtown Boise is pedestrian friendly with a number of street side venues to enjoy. the Idaho State Capitol is located in the heart of the downtown community. St. Luke's Boise Medical Center is also a prominent resident of the downtown community. The housing stock in Downtown is varied, with mixed use buildings, lofts, apartments and condos available. Public transportation is easily accessed within the borders of the Downtown community.
Veteran's Park is a prominent neighborhood in the Boise community. Veteran's Park is bounded on the northeast by West State Street and on the northeast by Veteran's Parkway. Veteran's Memorial State Park is in the center of the Veteran's Park community. The Memorial Park has beautiful green ways and Boise Cascade Lake. Residents of Veteran's Park can enjoy walking and biking trails, playgrounds, fishing other water related activities. Veteran's Park has a number of residential sections that border the park. Winstead Park is located east of Veteran's Park. Winstead Park is bounded by East Ustick Road to the west, Northview Street to the south, West Ustick Road to the north, and North Cole Road to the east. The park provides the residents of the community a wonderful opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities in their own neighborhood. A number of the apartment complexes are located near North Cole Road.
West Valley is a large residential neighborhood bounded on the north by McMillan Road, on the west by North Maple Grove Drive, on the sough by West Ustick Road, and on the east by North Cloverdale Road. There are a number of apartment and condo complexes spread throughout the West Valley community. West Valley has a number of homes available for rent or lease. Residents of West Valley are close enough to downtown to enjoy city life when they want, and far enough away from the metropolitan area where they can enjoy the peace of West Valley's suburban life.
