Founded in 1875, Calgary is the capital in Alberta's Province. Oil was discovered in Alberta in 1902. According to the Canadian Statistical Census report, Calgary had a population estimated over 1.2 million in 2009. Because of the numerous mountain resorts, Calgary is a destination location for tourists. Calgary hosted the Olympic Winter Games in 1988 and was the first Canadian city to do so.

Glendale is largely a residential neighborhood. Glendale is bounded on the north by bow Trail Southwest, on the west by 29th Street Southwest, on the south by 26th Avenue Southwest and on the east by Sarcee Trail Southwest. There is a small industrial district within Glendale. There are several green ways in the Glendale community, as well. Having neighborhood green ways gives the residents of Glendale lots of opportunities to enjoy outdoor recreational activities. The housing stock in Glendale is mixed. Renfrew is a neighborhood bounded by Bottomlands Park to the west, the Trans-Canada Highway to the north, Edmonton Trail to the east, and 8th Avenue Northeast to the south. Renfrew is north of Calgary. Mostly residential, Renfrew has a small business district near Edmonton Trail with local restaurants and shops. There are several parks within the borders of Renfrew including Saint George's Heights Park, Renfrew Athletic Park and Rotary Park. Renfrew is served by the public school system and families have options from elementary through high school. The housing options in Renfrew consist primarily of single family homes. There are lots of apartment communities located in the southern section of Renfrew. There are some houses for rent near the middle of the community.
Bel-Aire was established as a neighborhood in 1960. Bel-Aire is one of the wealthiest communities in the Calgary area. Bel-Aire is loosely bounded by SW Glenmore Trail on the south, Elbow Drive Southwest to the west and Glenmore Reservoir and Glenmore Park to the northeast. Bel-Aire is primarily residential. Bel-Aire is served by a private school system. There are some rental properties located along the SW Glenmore Trail.
Radisson Heights is a residential neighborhood in the Calgary area. Radisson Heights is bounded on the south by International Avenue, on the west by Deerfoot Trail, and on the north by Memorial Drive. Founded in 1910, Radisson Heights is located close to shopping and restaurants. Residents of Radisson Heights have great panoramic view of downtown. Radisson Heights is an ideal location to get to Fort Calgary Historic Park and the Calgary Zoo. There are several green spaces within the borders of Radisson Heights including Rainbow Park and Albert Park. The housing stock in Radisson Heights is primarily residential. There are a number of apartment complexes located near the center of the neighborhood.
Applewood Park is a large residential community that was founded in 1982. Applewood Drive circles almost the entirety of the community with 68th Street SE bounding on the east. Applewood Park and Applestone Park provide great green space for the residents of the neighborhood. There are a number of outdoor recreational activities for the Applewood Park residents to enjoy including walking and biking trails, picnic areas and a play area. The housing stock in Applewood Park consists primarily of single family homes.
University Heights is a neighborhood bounded on the north by 24th Avenue NW, Crowchild Trail NW to the west, Trans-Canada Highway to the south, and West Campus Boulevard to the east. University Heights is south of the University of Calgary. Calgary Vipers Baseball Club is west of the community. University Heights is largely residential. A number of rental properties are located on the west side of town. There are several apartment communities located close to Crowchild Trail NW and McMahon Stadium.
