Top Neighborhoods

Heritage Hills has the honor of being the largest urban historic district in the United States. The community was founded in 1848. Heritage Hills is bounded by College Avenue and the Gerald R. Ford Freeway. Highland Park is the communitiesí neighborhood to the west. Heritage Hills has a very active Association that has been in existence since 1968. The Association's goal is to preserve as much of the neighborhoods history as it can, and keep urban renewal at bay. The housing stock in Heritage Hills is mixed. There are apartment buildings, multi-family units, single family homes, as well as converted homes for rent or lease. There are both public and private schools for the families in the community to choose from. With its historical demarcation and adjacency to downtown Grand Rapids, Heritage Hills is an ideal community to live in.

Eastown is considered Grand Rapids bohemian district. Eastown is a very culturally and socioeconomically diverse neighborhood. Eastown is considered pedestrian friendly and has a mixed use business district. There are trendy boutiques, earthy stores, bars and retail amidst converted storefronts and second story apartments. Eastown is bounded by Fulton Street and Robinson Road. Wilcox Park is located on the southern edge of the community and gives residents of Eastown lots of green space for recreational activities. Eastown has a very active business association and neighborhood association.

Belknap Lookout is a very desirable neighborhood in the Grand Rapids area. Bounded by Gerald R Ford Freeway, US 131, and College Ave NE, Belknap Lookout is culturally and economically diverse. Founded as a neighborhood in 1926, Belknap is home to the first cemetery in Grand Rapids. There are two parks that service the Belknap community; Colt Park and its namesake, Belknap Park. The housing stock in Belknap is just as diverse as its residents. More expensive properties tend to be on the East side of town. Garfield Park is at the center of Grand Rapids. And just as its name suggests, the park of the same name is at the center. Residents of Garfield Park also benefit from Gerald R. Ford Natural Center, directly to its south. Because of the park, residents of the community have wonderful green ways to take advantage of for kite flying, biking, walking and jogging trails, playgrounds and picnic areas. The housing stock in Garfield Park is diverse from small single family homes to apartment communities and homes to rent or lease. Michigan Oaks is a nice neighborhood in the Grand Rapids area that benefits from 3 lakes; West Lake, Mid Lake and Church Lake. Lake front property is highly desirable and the residents of Michigan Oaks have more than their share of lakefront activities to enjoy. Michigan Oaks is bounded by Gerald R. Ford Freeway to the north and Fulton Street east to the south. A little further south of the community is Reeds Lake where residents can enjoy boating and fishing activities. Both private and public schools are available for the families of Michigan Oaks to choose from.
