Founder & CEO
Jon has 13 years of experience in developing and executing high-level business strategy and in entrepreneurial business-building. Along the way, Jon developed Rent Jungle, an industry first search engine that is specifically engineered for apartment hunting. Since its launch in 2010, Rent Jungle has quickly grown into the market leader in apartment and rental housing search sites. Jon also worked at McKinsey & Company, a leading global management consulting firm, where he led Marketing Strategy efforts for Fortune 500 clients. Prior to this he worked at Microsoft, leading the development of the Xbox 360's market launch strategy, as well as at Google as a lead developer of Google's Adwords customer service and support strategy.
A Fulbright scholar, Jon graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA in Business Strategy. He has a BA in Economics and Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University.
After two years as a product manager at Google Shopping, Spencer is happy to be back in a smaller company where he is closer to the customers. Prior to Google, Spencer started AppCertain, the first parental control app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Before all of that, Spencer worked in multiple research labs at CMU where he received his BS in Computer Science and a masters in Electrical & Computer Engineering.
When not hacking on personal projects or helping his wife self-publish her poetry, there's a good chance that Spencer is watching Netflix or practicing traditional Kung Fu. He also enjoys commuting on his electric bicycle.
Daniel has extensive expertise in web applications development and has managed multi-million entry database systems. As Lead Developer, he oversees all programming operations, strategic product development and interface usability, and leads the coding of Rent Jungle's cutting edge technology which he co-developed. Prior to Rent Jungle, he also worked at Aethon, a leading maker of automated robots, where he designed, developed and implemented an enterprise scale web application, integrated multi-department data into one system to streamline operations, created reporting interfaces and improved statistical computation.
Daniel started programming in BASIC when he was seven and received his BS in Computer Science from Bethany College.
Erik Singer has worked at Rent Jungle since 2011. He is in charge of the spidering backend of Rent Jungle, correctly identifying listings and parsing their information. Erik joined Rent Jungle as his first job out of college. He has a BS in Computer Science from Grove City College.
With a background in back end development, Sid is the most recent addition to RentJungle as of late 2014. Sid has previously worked within the gaming and marketing industries. He enjoys bicycling, gardening, reading about outer space and games of all sorts. Sid has built a number of online poker calculators and played in the World Series of Poker. He graduated from RIT with a BS in Information Technology, with a minor in Cognitive Psychology.
Grant joined the Rent Jungle team in June 2015 as a software developer, where he works on the backend web crawling system, primarily using Python and AWS. He comes from a healthcare software background, having previously worked at Epic and UPMC. Prior to entering the labor force, Grant graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Economics. In his free time, Grant enjoys finance, space (as in rockets), and personal development. He hopes to start his own company one day.
Travis was most recently a Graduate Researcher and Ph.D student in psychology at the University of Pittsburgh,where his research focused on the neural basis of cognition. Travis' day-to-day work focused on designing computer software to conduct and analyze the "big data" from computer-based experiments, primarily using Amazon Web Services,PHP, C#, MatLab, R and SPSS. Travis has Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Psychology from New Mexico Highlands University and New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, respectively.
Project and Product Manager / Developer
Bianca joined Rent Jungle at the end of 2014 as a part-time manager and developer. Her previous experience was with PTC and IBM as a developer, consultant, and unofficial manager. She has a BS in Computer Science from Seton Hill University and now lives in Pittsburgh with her husband. Outside of the office, she enjoys various endeavors, including drawing, poetry writing, gaming, reading, and singing.
Michael Mele began working at Rent Jungle in July 2015 as a Data Analyst. He previously worked for DeVilbiss Healthcare, a manufacturing company that produces specialized respiratory medical devices, as an Industrial Engineer. Michael has a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and an MS in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University.
Drew brings 20 years of experience with startups as a systems administrator. As Operations Engineer, Drew handles the systems and provisioning of our environment, to make life easier for our developers. Drew is known for organizing dorkbotpgh, working on the local pittmesh wireless mesh network, and a few talks at hackpittsburgh.
Senior Web Developer
Since graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002 with a BS in computer science, Dan has been developing web sites. From 2006 until he joined Rent Jungle’s team in 2016, Dan was the sole programmer for SockDreams.com, a multi-million dollar e-commerce site. Before entering into the technology world, Dan was a musician and audio engineer. He still plays guitar, piano and bass. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his 2 daughters, wife and dog. He is also an active volunteer in the community – coaching both soccer and basketball, as a member of Brentwood’s as 4th of July planning committee and helping Handmade Arcade with its technology needs.
Senior Software Developer
David has spent most of his career working as a technical contributor in a variety of startups from Boston to Seattle. He lives in downtown Pittsburgh with his wife, Wendy. When he’s not in front of a computer, you’ll find him cycling, drumming, or running.
Customer Success Analyst
Amanda Bock joined Rent Jungle this December as the Customer Success Analyst. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in French and Italian in 2009, and an MA in Italian Literature in 2013. She also studied Interior Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. For the past two years, Amanda has worked at Google Pittsburgh improving user experience on Google Shopping. Her French bulldog Marcel is also a happy member of our team. In her free time, Amanda enjoys traveling, cooking and watching spy shows.
Senior Software Engineer
Brian Coulter is joining the team to work on spider management and other back-end development. He previously worked at Westinghouse Electric Company developing reactor monitoring software. Before that he graduated from Penn State with degrees in Physics and Nuclear Engineering. In his free time, Brian is active in a number of local sports leagues, including softball, volleyball and ultimate frisbee. When he has the time he also enjoys rock climbing and improv comedy.
Customer Support Administrator
Colleen started at Rent Jungle in November 2016 as a Customer Support Admin. Colleen graduated from Robert Morris University with a Bachelor’s degree in business. When Colleen is not at the Jungle, she enjoys her time by spending it with her dogs and doing yoga. Namaste!.
Director of ILS Sales
Mike Gladfelder joins Rent Jungle as the Director of ILS Sales and will be based out of the Seattle market. Mike brings nearly 24 years of sales and customer relations experience in the Multifamily housing industry. His most recent project was a startup company providing door to door trash service to the apartment residents. Prior to that, Mike spent 21 years selling print and online advertising to the industry with ForRent. Mike will be involved in future development of Rent Jungle's products as well as the sales efforts.
Director of ILS Sales
Lisa brings over 25 years of experience in the Multifamily Housing industry. Prior to Rent Jungle, she worked for For Rent Media Solutions selling advertising solutions specializing in print, online and social media platforms. While at For Rent she worked on National team, Atlanta market and launched the Savannah & Charleston markets. She spent 14 years in Property Management holding various positions as Marketing & Training Director, On Site Lease Up & Assistant Regional Manager. Lisa has been on numerous committees for Atlanta Apartment Association and Georgia Apartment Industry Education Fund. The Atlanta Apartment Association named her Go Getter of the Year & received the Peggy Waskom Award. She loves volunteering in her spare time with Atlanta Community Food Bank & Rainbow Village. When not working Lisa enjoys time with her 2 Grand kids, Lily & Tatum and called Gigi since too cool to be called Grandma.
