Mt. Washington is home to current Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Minutes from downtown Los Angeles and located in the northeast section of the city, Mt. Washington is situated on one of the little hills that make up the Los Angeles basin. Mt. Washington is a perfect blend of urban and natural beauty. One of many beautiful neighborhoods in northeast L.A., Mt. Washington's hills provide mounds of green to explore. Different parts of the neighborhood provide views of downtown L.A., hillsides, valleys, tranquil canyons and the San Gabriel mountains.Surrounding areas such as Silver Lake and Glassell Park have gone through major gentrification in the last decade making this little pocket of L.A. both eclectic and centrally located. Mt. Washington was founded by Colonel Henry Washington in 1909 as a luxurious suburb of the city. Home to some of the most beautiful and important architectural properties in the area, the neighborhood boasts many Modernist masterpieces and Classic Mediterranean revivals and Modernist masterpieces.

Leimert Park, bordered by Rodeo Road on the north and Vernon Avenue on the south, is considered one of the last affordable neighborhoods in L. A. Today Leimert Park is considered the center of the African-American arts scene in Los Angeles, with flourishing blues and jazz clubs; as well as venues for Hip Hop and numerous dramatic performances and poetry readings; and the home of movie producer John Singleton. The main drag of Degnan Boulevard boasts numerous shops, restaurants and galleries. The culturally rich neighborhood is home to Project Blowed which hosts the longest running hip hop open mic night in the world, held every Thursday in Leimert Park Village. Area schools are also making a comeback much like the neighborhood itself. It's up and coming and a great neighborhood in the heart of Los Angeles.

Laurel Canyon boasts community life which is focused on its central thoroughfare, Laurel Canyon Boulevard. Described by some as a self contained neighborhood, Laurel Canyon is located in the canyon dividing the San Fernando Valley and Hollywood. This funky little enclave still hangs on to the bohemian spirit of days past with many famous artists and songwriters still calling it home; artists like Frank Zappa,Mitchell, Graham Nash and David Crosby to name a few. Laurel Canyon also boasts one of the most beautiful and hip dog parks in the city. You'll defiantly see a lot of French Bulldogs and Chihuahuas, but you might also spot local residents Justin Timberlake or Anthony Kiedies.

Venice has morphed into one of priciest, albeit coolest places in L.A. The little town is home to fabulous art galleries, funky and eclectic shops and great restaurants. Within walking distance to world famous Venice Beach, it is also home to the canals of Venice built in 1905 by tobacco millionaire, Abbott Kinney. Venicehas drastically changed into a hip enclave of actors, artists and writers. Abbott Kinney Dr. is a main stretch where you'll find vintage furniture shops and opportunities for beautiful nature photography. Unlike most of Los Angeles, Venice has a lot of pedestrian traffic. Walkways between streets and houses make it walker friendly. With its beautifully comfortable weather, Venice is a modern day heaven.

Magnolia Park - Burbank is located in two distinct areas, with its flatlands at the eastern end of the San Fernando Valley and downtown, civic center and key neighborhoods nestled on the foothills and slopes that rise to the Verdugo Mountains.Magnolia Park is known by locals as the 'real Hollywood', because of the back lots and sets and world famous Warner Bros. and Disney. >illed as the Media Capital of the World, a majority of the residences work in some aspect of the film industry. Writers, set designers, art directors abound. With this blend of creative occupants, the little city has come a long way from being the butt of the late Johnny Carson's Tonight Show jokes. One of the up and coming neighborhoods in Burbank, Magnolia Park. Dissected by the street Magnolia Boulevard. The area is home to vintage clothing stores, restaurants, art galleries and antique shops. Anchored by Porto's Bakery on Magnolia and Hollywood Way, the neighborhood is bustling with shoppers and eaters. Over the hill from Tinseltown and on the edge of the San Fernando Valley, Burbank is independent of Los Angeles city services. With it's own police, fire department and schools, it's a safe little enclave with a small town feel.

Bird Streets - Calabasas The historic neighborhood of the Bird Streets is an affluent Los Angeles neighborhood. A former artist colony, it's past inhabitants included Jimmy Durante and F. Scott Fitzgerald. The neighborhood is centrally located and full of interesting architectural homes. The Birds, aptly named because of winding rural streets called Hummingbird, Black Bird and Meadow Lark, is located in the east end of Calabasas. Calabasas itself is just over the canyon from the Pacific ocean and on the western border of the San Fernando Valley. It's location makes it very beautiful with lots of green open space, yet its close to the shopping and restaurants of the Valley. The Birds are in walking distance to the The Commons mall in Calabases. The school district in this distinguished neighborhood are within walking distance, and The Birds are home to world renowned Las Virgenes Unified School district. There are nature preserves and hiking trails readily available where you can spot hawks and the occasional coyote.
