Minneapolis, the largest city in Minnesota, is lovingly referred to as the "City of Lakes". This city by the water is known for great cultural organizations that draw a diverse array of residents interested in the performing arts, theatre, music and writing. Top Neighborhoods

Calhoun-Isles is one of the official communities of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It contains the Uptown business district and the name "Uptown" is frequently used to refer to the entire community. Calhoun - Isles is an upscale, affluent area of Minneapolis southwest of Downtown. Most of Minneapolis's nightlife, the upscale shops, and the restaurants to be seen in are here. The community is named after Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles, both contained within it's borders. With such great lake access, there are plenty of opportunities for water sports, long walks along the lake, and lots of open air green space to take advantage of.

Camden, located in the north corner of the city, on the east bank of the Mississippi, is composed of several small neighborhoods. The neighborhood is mostly residential, although it contains two industrial areas. Camden is one of Minneapolis' most diverse neighborhoods. There's a great mix of middle and working class families and housing is rated as affordable. Camden, now referred to as Webber-Camden has great shops, cafes and boutiques. There are industrial as well as residential areas that make up the neighborhood of Camden, with great schools, and access to public transportation.

Northeast Park is in the north east corner of Minneapolis. It is an older, mostly Victorian area of Minneapolis, and is the traditional home of immigrants to the area. Because of it's history of early Scandinavian settlers, Northeast Park is frequently referred to as Northeast. Northeast Park still boasts a number of residents who are the descendants of the original Scandinavian setters. The area has a variety of residential areas, industrial areas and old mills, historic churches, established and new retail areas. The area is becoming popular with young people, provides affordable housing options for every budget.

Powderhorn's namesake is the city's Powderhorn Park facility in the northwestern part of the neighborhood. Powderhorn Lake includes playing fields, playgrounds and a park building that hosts community education classes ranging from pottery to yoga. Residential development took place here in the early 20th century, and much of the neighborhood has a friendly vibe. Powderhorn has many attractions such as the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and "Eat Street"; an area in Whittier with an enormous variety of ethnic restaurants. The park and lake are used for the annual May Day parade and draws crowds from neighborhoods through Minnesota.

University contains the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis campus, Nicollet Island, the Weismann Art Museum. Because of the university, there are lots of students and activities and venues that specifically cater to the student population. Housing, from houses for rent to apartments and condos are affordable and in close proximity to inexpensive restaurants, bars, cafes, and bookstores. The University area is very popular with young people and provides not only great nightlife and entertainment but plenty of parks and recreational facilities to enjoy during the day.

Downtown East is an official neighborhood in Minnesota and home to the triple H Metrodome where the world famous Minnesota Vikings play all of their home games. Within Downtown East is the old Mills District. In recent years, old industrial buildings and warehouses have been converted to apartments, lofts and condominiums, bringing a residential population to an area that was historically commercial. there are several arts venues in the downtown area including Mills Ruins and Guthrie Theatre. Along the waterfront, the city has built a park themed on the history of Minneapolis incorporating mill ruins and featuring the Mill City Museum.
